Is it legal to grow cannabis in Australia?

136 views  December 6, 2020

What is legal in Australia?

  • In the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), adults aged 18 and over can legally grow up to 2 cannabis plants per person, with a maximum of 4 per household, for personal use.
  • Possession of small amounts for personal use is also decriminalised in the ACT.
  • Medical cannabis is legal nationwide with a valid prescription from an authorised doctor.

Please note: Cannabis laws vary by state and territory. Growing cannabis is still illegal in most parts of Australia outside the ACT. Always check your local laws before germinating or cultivating seeds.
